PPL thanks

Say thanks to the parties protecting new parents' time at home

This election Fair Agenda secured pledges from the Nick Xenophon Team, Jacqui Lambie Network, Greens and ALP to vote against any cuts to paid parental leave.

Together, these parties hold the majority of seats in the new Senate, which means their votes will stop the Government from cutting the parental leave of tens of thousands of new parents.

It's a great commitment from these four parties, which will make a huge difference to tens of thousands of working parents, and their newborns.

With so much at stake, it's vital we not only thank these Senators for pledging to protect new parents' time at home -- but also show them we're still ready to mobilise and hold them accountable for their promise.

Can you help by sharing a thank you message for the Senators pledged, sharing why protecting parental leave matters to you?

Being able to afford to spend time at home caring for your new baby is precious.

Thank you for your pledge to vote against any cuts to paid parental leave.

"Adrian J Wilson. It is most important for parents to establish firm bonds with their infants in those early months and particularly so when the necessity to have two parents in the workforce reduces the amount of quality time parents spend with their children"

"I had my first child last year and the benefit of both my employer paid parental leave in addition to the government provision enabled me to spend 7 months at home with my child. This was critical to our bonding at this early stage of his life and it is important to protect this for future parents."
