PPL thanks

Say thanks to the parties protecting new parents' time at home

This election Fair Agenda secured pledges from the Nick Xenophon Team, Jacqui Lambie Network, Greens and ALP to vote against any cuts to paid parental leave.

Together, these parties hold the majority of seats in the new Senate, which means their votes will stop the Government from cutting the parental leave of tens of thousands of new parents.

It's a great commitment from these four parties, which will make a huge difference to tens of thousands of working parents, and their newborns.

With so much at stake, it's vital we not only thank these Senators for pledging to protect new parents' time at home -- but also show them we're still ready to mobilise and hold them accountable for their promise.

Can you help by sharing a thank you message for the Senators pledged, sharing why protecting parental leave matters to you?

Being able to afford to spend time at home caring for your new baby is precious.

Thank you for your pledge to vote against any cuts to paid parental leave.

Signed,

Fair Agenda will email petition signers from time to time with important updates

"I’ve followeed the parental leave debate in Australia since the Howard years and was overjoyed when, finally, paid parental leave became government policy. Paid parental leave means parents, often women, can take an extended paid period off work to bond with their baby while maintaining a relationship with their workplace. I’m so grateful to YOU for not buying into the Liberal Party’s “double dipping” narrative. Paid parental leave was designed to add onto workplace offerings, with the aim of bringing parents close to six months paid leave- the minimum period of time recommended for breastfeeding. I have recently become pregnant myself (yay!) so this issue is personal now. Thanks to you I can breathe easy that I’ll have access to government + workplace entitlements to allow me to give my baby the best start in life. Thank you, thank you!"
