Say thanks to the parties protecting new parents' time at home

This election Fair Agenda secured pledges from the Nick Xenophon Team, Jacqui Lambie Network, Greens and ALP to vote against any cuts to paid parental leave.

Together, these parties hold the majority of seats in the new Senate, which means their votes will stop the Government from cutting the parental leave of tens of thousands of new parents. 

It's a great commitment from these four parties, which will make a huge difference to tens of thousands of working parents, and their newborns.

With so much at stake, it's vital we not only thank these Senators for pledging to protect new parents' time at home -- but also show them we're still ready to mobilise and hold them accountable for their promise.

"Without the PPL as the main income earner we still would be on centrelink trying to pay for 2 childcare fees to pay my mortage and i would have has to return to work after bub turned 9 weeks. Thankyou for letting me be the primary caregiver to my children, alllowing me to breastfeed them and be part of their young childhood."

"I’ve been fortunate enough to take a year of laid leave with my firstborn son. I can’t imagine going back to work sooner when he’s so little. Being at home allows me to breastfeed for longer and support my son in all the developmental challenges he faces in the first year. It’s also been a massive adjustment to our lives as a family and being at home makes it that much easier for us to adjust. I realise that I lose out on super and developing my career during this time, but I wouldn’t change it for the world."
