PPL thanks

Say thanks to the parties protecting new parents' time at home

This election Fair Agenda secured pledges from the Nick Xenophon Team, Jacqui Lambie Network, Greens and ALP to vote against any cuts to paid parental leave.

Together, these parties hold the majority of seats in the new Senate, which means their votes will stop the Government from cutting the parental leave of tens of thousands of new parents.

It's a great commitment from these four parties, which will make a huge difference to tens of thousands of working parents, and their newborns.

With so much at stake, it's vital we not only thank these Senators for pledging to protect new parents' time at home -- but also show them we're still ready to mobilise and hold them accountable for their promise.

Can you help by sharing a thank you message for the Senators pledged, sharing why protecting parental leave matters to you?

Being able to afford to spend time at home caring for your new baby is precious.

Thank you for your pledge to vote against any cuts to paid parental leave.

Signed,

Fair Agenda will email petition signers from time to time with important updates

"The availability to access employer and government paid parental leave has a real bearing in our ability to have another child while juggling a mortgage. Don’t penalise young families by adding to their financial burden at a time they should be celebrating their new addition."

"Protecting parental leave is crucial to me. Our society reiies on the bonds that form between parents and children. These can only happen when parents are present with their newborns as carers and many people need support to make this financially possible. Thank you for supporting the retention of this vital leave."

"I have just returned to work part time after 2 years on parental leave. The time I had to spend with my child was priceless & she is such a happy, intelligent &swell balanced child because of it. It it also very important for families who choose to breastfeed, as ideally this should continue for at least the first 12 months of a child’s life."
