Tell the govt: fully fund women’s safety

Men’s use of gender-based violence is a crisis across the country. Yet governments are choosing not to properly resource life-saving family, domestic and sexual violence services.

Domestic and family violence services, sexual violence services, women's legal services - all play a vital role in supporting women's safety and wellbeing.

But right now government priorities and funding decisions mean that services aren't resourced to assist everyone that needs them. Every day violence services aren't fully funded is another day women are left in danger.

Enough is enough. We’re calling on governments to invest in a future where women can live, work and learn free from violence. A budget that ensures that a woman or girl who has been raped doesn’t wait months for trauma counselling support. A budget that ensures services have the capacity to respond to a man at risk of using violence. And importantly a budget that ensures any person subject to violence is supported to be safe and escape their abuser.

Join us by calling on the federal government to make women’s safety should be a non-negotiable at the heart of their budgets.

More information

There are gaping holes in the safety net that should be in place for women affected by sexual, domestic and family violence. Funding is urgently needed across every part of the system.

Join the campaign to show the Albanese Government we want women’s safety to be at the core of their budgets; and we want these services fully funded.

To Federal, State and Territory Governments,

We call on you to ensure proper funding of specialist sexual, domestic and family violence services - to ensure everyone affected can access the support they need, and that perpetrators’ abusive behaviours are addressed.

"I am a victim of domestic violence and have had to wait for months to access counselling. I had to find the services myself. I am unable to afford psychological help. I have had minimal support from the Police and Judicial system. What is available now is clearly not good enough."

"I am sick and tired of women dying at the hands of men at an alarmingly unacceptable rate. Women’s lives matter. Domestic violence is the same as any other sort of violence and penalties should be the same. AVO must be enforced and women and children should not have to leave their homes to feel safe. Enough is enough!"
