Tell the govt: fully fund women’s safety

Men’s use of gender-based violence is a crisis across the country. Yet governments are choosing not to properly resource life-saving family, domestic and sexual violence services.

Domestic and family violence services, sexual violence services, women's legal services - all play a vital role in supporting women's safety and wellbeing.

But right now government priorities and funding decisions mean that services aren't resourced to assist everyone that needs them. Every day violence services aren't fully funded is another day women are left in danger.

Enough is enough. We’re calling on governments to invest in a future where women can live, work and learn free from violence. A budget that ensures that a woman or girl who has been raped doesn’t wait months for trauma counselling support. A budget that ensures services have the capacity to respond to a man at risk of using violence. And importantly a budget that ensures any person subject to violence is supported to be safe and escape their abuser.

Join us by calling on the federal government to make women’s safety should be a non-negotiable at the heart of their budgets.

More information

There are gaping holes in the safety net that should be in place for women affected by sexual, domestic and family violence. Funding is urgently needed across every part of the system.

Join the campaign to show the Albanese Government we want women’s safety to be at the core of their budgets; and we want these services fully funded.

To Federal, State and Territory Governments,

We call on you to ensure proper funding of specialist sexual, domestic and family violence services - to ensure everyone affected can access the support they need, and that perpetrators’ abusive behaviours are addressed.

"Because women’s rights are human rights. Because women are tired of being unsafe due to male violence and exhausted by the continued need to challenge it themselves with little to no funding or support. Because after 25yrs working in the welfare sector the most consistent driver of need is the underlying impacts of generations of male violence. Because I don’t know how much longer I can continue to work in a sector which is steeped in crisis, trauma, risk and violence where we are underpaid, often expected to work unpaid hours, where the need continues to grow but funding does not and where we have no guaranteed job security"
