Fair Agenda

This will be the second gathering of Fair Agenda's online Feminist 'Book' Club.

For this gathering we will read: We Will Not Cancel Us: and other dreams of transformative justice by adrienne maree brown.

The recommended excerpt is from page 37 - 41, starting with the paragraph: 

“Perhaps, most dangerously, we are, all together now, teetering on the edge of hopelessness…”

The book is pocket sized, and 63 pages in its entirety (an estimated 2 hour read), and we encourage you to read the whole book if you have time.

If you'd like to take notes while you read, our three discussion prompts will be:

• What part of the content stuck with you, or jumped out at you?
• Did the reading deepen or change your understanding of anything?
• What are you taking away from the reading?

Why this reading, in this moment?

As more and more of our community members reckon with the failures of our economic system, and respond by turning to far-right politicians - this invitation to movements for social and economic justice is more relevant than ever.  adrienne invites us to share in her vision of movements “so irresistibly accountable that people who don’t even know what a movement is come running towards us, expecting that they will be welcomed, flawed and whole, by a community committed to growth….”

How Feminist 'Book' Club will run:

Each meeting of the Feminist Book Club:

• There will be a quick opportunity for connection and check in with other participants (using zoom Break out rooms)
• We will collectively reflect on the two discussion prompts 
• The Fair Agenda team will share an opportunity to take action in current campaigns for gender equality
