Let them share their story

It takes a lot of courage for someone to share their experience of sexual harassment. The fear of jeopardising their career or being perceived as a “victim” often prevents people from coming forward. The fear of legal consequences shouldn’t be an added barrier preventing someone from telling their story.

That's why the Sex Discrimination Commissioner has urged all employers to issue a limited waiver of confidentiality obligations in any sexual harassment claim settlements — to ensure anyone affected can make a submission to the National Inquiry into Workplace Sexual Harassment.

ANZ and the Commonwealth Bank of Australia, two of Australia’s largest companies, have already committed. Can you sign the petition urging the rest of the Big 4 banks to follow suit?

To Brian Hartzer, CEO of Westpac, and Andrew Thorburn, CEO of NAB,

Please join the growing list of organisations waiving confidentiality obligations to allow anyone affected to make a submission to the National Inquiry into Workplace Sexual Harassment.

Yours sincerely,

Fair Agenda will email petition signers from time to time with important updates

"Time to treat women and men with respect and responsibility. Sexual harassment is an issue for public scrutiny. Stop hiding perpetrators under privacy protection. What about the harassed? What privacy did they get from the harasser? Truly this nonsensical cover up needs to cease and all perpetrators exposed so others aren’t harassed by them. Please NAB do the ethical thing and not what you think is the expedient thing. You are creating more suffering from the harassed. Do stop. Take some leadership on the issue. No one should be sexually harassed or bullied anywhere and should be safe and protected in the workplace. Harassers and bullies should not be protected."

"Conducting an inquiry into Workplace Sexual Harassment is an important step and the outcomes will only be useful if those who have already experienced this unpardonable behavior in their workplace are able to tell their story to the Inquiry."
