Let them share their story

It takes a lot of courage for someone to share their experience of sexual harassment. The fear of jeopardising their career or being perceived as a “victim” often prevents people from coming forward. The fear of legal consequences shouldn’t be an added barrier preventing someone from telling their story.

That's why the Sex Discrimination Commissioner has urged all employers to issue a limited waiver of confidentiality obligations in any sexual harassment claim settlements — to ensure anyone affected can make a submission to the National Inquiry into Workplace Sexual Harassment.

ANZ and the Commonwealth Bank of Australia, two of Australia’s largest companies, have already committed. Can you sign the petition urging the rest of the Big 4 banks to follow suit?

To Brian Hartzer, CEO of Westpac, and Andrew Thorburn, CEO of NAB,

Please join the growing list of organisations waiving confidentiality obligations to allow anyone affected to make a submission to the National Inquiry into Workplace Sexual Harassment.

Yours sincerely,

Fair Agenda will email petition signers from time to time with important updates

"Justice requires it, and justice must be seen to be done.
(Evidence convinced me that there was criminal activity in a large organisation. When I tried to bring this to their attention, I was stone-walled by ‘privacy’. This caused me and a lot of others that I involved a great deal of stress.
There really wasn’t a privacy issue involved, but people were afraid that there might be. It turned out that there was no criminal activity, a fact that I could have established but for the fear factor.)"
