QLD Government: stop cuts to family violence funding
A woman’s ability to access timely support from a domestic violence service can be life-saving.
Already this year 8 Queensland women and girls have been killed, allegedly by men they knew.
Yet the Crisafulli Government is cutting the money allocated to addressing domestic and family violence in the state.
This year, they’ve reduced the funding spent by $38.5 million – despite services across the state being unable to meet demand for their life-saving services.
It’s horrifying, and unacceptable. The Government has now announced a pitiful $3 million allocation towards services this year - to try and distract from backlash against this decision.
Can you show it won’t work - and that the community actually want to see them increase funding in this area, not just restore it.
