Fair Agenda's Feminist Book Club - Mitchelton

I'm starting a Feminist Book Club because apparently I looked at my life and thought, "You know what this needs? More feminism."

I'm Amy, and I work at Fair Agenda, a feminist campaigning organisation. If you're on the Fair Agenda email list, there's a reasonable chance you've received one of the many emails I've written over the years.

I live in Brisbane's northern suburbs and realised I'd love to meet more like-minded people in this part of town. So here we are.

Every six weeks we'll get together to chat about a short piece of reading (or a podcast) that's relevant to the world we're living in and the future we're want to build together.

The important bit is short. Think an article, an essay, a book chapter or a podcast episode. Not an 800-page novel that everyone politely claims they've definitely almost finished.

We'll eat snacks, talk about what resonated, what challenged us, what gave us hope (or made us want to throw something), and how it connects to the fight for a fairer future. I'll also share a quick update on what Fair Agenda is working on and ways to get involved if you're interested—but this isn't a campaign meeting. It's a chance to think, reflect and build community.

Mostly, though, this is an excuse to spend time with thoughtful, funny people who care about making the world a little bit better.

Come for the feminism. Stay for the snacks.

And given we're meeting in Mitchelton, I suspect a post-book-club trip to The Woods might become part of the tradition.
