Tell the govt: fully fund women’s safety

Domestic and family violence services, sexual violence services, women's legal services - all play a vital role in supporting women's safety and wellbeing.

But right now government priorities and funding decisions mean that services aren't resourced to assist everyone that needs them. Every day violence services aren't fully funded is another day women are left in danger.

Government representatives talk about how we all have a part to play in addressing violence. But making sure frontline services are resourced to support everyone who needs them is squarely the responsibility of governments.

Join us in calling on all government to make women’s safety a non-negotiable at the heart of their budgets.

If you or someone you know is affected by sexual or domestic or family abuse, you can access support from Full Stop Australia's National Violence and Abuse Trauma Counselling and Recovery Service by calling 1800 385 578 or at fullstop.org.au. If you are in danger, call 000. The Men's Referral Service is available on 1300 766 491 for men, or friends and family of men using violence.

More information

There are gaping holes in the safety net that should be in place for women affected by sexual, domestic and family violence. Funding is urgently needed across every part of the system.

Join the campaign to show the Albanese Government we want women’s safety to be at the core of their budgets; and we want these services fully funded.

To Federal, State and Territory Governments,

We call on you to ensure proper funding of specialist sexual, domestic and family violence services - to ensure everyone affected can access the support they need, and that perpetrators’ abusive behaviours are addressed.

"It is time to provide adequate services to people escaping domestic or family violence. In addition to the moral response it is also a real investment in reducing the cost to the community. It allows people to re-establish their lives more readily and then contribute to their community and have an much enhanced life."

"Giving any tax concessions to the wealthy while the lower tax brackets are struggling makes no sense at all. We needto raise revenue for health and education, social housing and imrproving the grid for clean energy."

"There is so much good the Albanese Govt could do by not going ahead with these tax cuts, preventing violence against women being one of them. They could also help women trapped in abusive relationships by providing much more social housing so that women and their children could have a safe home to escape to."
