Tell the govt: fully fund women’s safety

Domestic and family violence services, sexual violence services, women's legal services - all play a vital role in supporting women's safety and wellbeing.

But right now government priorities and funding decisions mean that services aren't resourced to assist everyone that needs them. Every day violence services aren't fully funded is another day women are left in danger.

Government representatives talk about how we all have a part to play in addressing violence. But making sure frontline services are resourced to support everyone who needs them is squarely the responsibility of governments.

Join us in calling on all government to make women’s safety a non-negotiable at the heart of their budgets.

If you or someone you know is affected by sexual or domestic or family abuse, you can access support from Full Stop Australia's National Violence and Abuse Trauma Counselling and Recovery Service by calling 1800 385 578 or at fullstop.org.au. If you are in danger, call 000. The Men's Referral Service is available on 1300 766 491 for men, or friends and family of men using violence.

More information

There are gaping holes in the safety net that should be in place for women affected by sexual, domestic and family violence. Funding is urgently needed across every part of the system.

Join the campaign to show the Albanese Government we want women’s safety to be at the core of their budgets; and we want these services fully funded.

To Federal, State and Territory Governments,

We call on you to ensure proper funding of specialist sexual, domestic and family violence services - to ensure everyone affected can access the support they need, and that perpetrators’ abusive behaviours are addressed.

"I am at a loss of why income tax refunds need to go to the wealthy who need it like they need a hole in their heads.
Yet, we have far higher demands on this kind of money, child care, aged care and the like, including combatting climate change and new clean energy."

"This really is a crisis. The cycle of violence and the intergenerational devastation is not only not unacceptable for the wellbeing of individuals and the community but also for our economy, our culture, and our image as a nation (can we really say Australia is a safe country?) Women need help now."

"I’m a social worker and I see first hand how inadequate our family violence services are. We need more support for women and gender diverse people and their children seeking family violence support."

"We are a women’s service club whose core values include improving the lives of women and girls around the world. Their health, safety and ability to be empowered to work and support families financially is a part of that"

"I believe for there to be any change in this area the govt needs to acknowledge, support and fund services that are the ones living through this epidemic with victims."
