Tell the govt: fully fund women’s safety

Men’s use of gender-based violence is a crisis across the country. Yet governments are choosing not to properly resource life-saving family, domestic and sexual violence services.

Domestic and family violence services, sexual violence services, women's legal services - all play a vital role in supporting women's safety and wellbeing.

But right now government priorities and funding decisions mean that services aren't resourced to assist everyone that needs them. Every day violence services aren't fully funded is another day women are left in danger.

Enough is enough. We’re calling on governments to invest in a future where women can live, work and learn free from violence. A budget that ensures that a woman or girl who has been raped doesn’t wait months for trauma counselling support. A budget that ensures services have the capacity to respond to a man at risk of using violence. And importantly a budget that ensures any person subject to violence is supported to be safe and escape their abuser.

Join us by calling on the federal government to make women’s safety should be a non-negotiable at the heart of their budgets.

More information

There are gaping holes in the safety net that should be in place for women affected by sexual, domestic and family violence. Funding is urgently needed across every part of the system.

Join the campaign to show the Albanese Government we want women’s safety to be at the core of their budgets; and we want these services fully funded.

To Federal, State and Territory Governments,

We call on you to ensure proper funding of specialist sexual, domestic and family violence services - to ensure everyone affected can access the support they need, and that perpetrators’ abusive behaviours are addressed.

"I’ve worked for more than 2 decades with victims of DV, have had close relatives impacted and one murdered just after escaping. This is costly to a country morally, socially and economically. It is necessary to budget for accessible and responsive services."

"It is about time women have equal pay for the work they do, they would also have equal supperanuation , so not your honourable Prime Minister not be reliant on men for the purchase of a home. It’s about time young girls be taught in schools not to to be abused by young men/ later men.

Young girls must be taught they are capable in there own right to be what ever they dream to be regardless , they can ask for help it will be given . Let’s start that help in school . Another way for girls to be encourage to start saving from a young age . Also don’t drink, smoke , take drugs , life is wonderful without them"
