Tell the govt: fully fund women’s safety

Domestic and family violence services, sexual violence services, women's legal services - all play a vital role in supporting women's safety and wellbeing.

But right now government priorities and funding decisions mean that services aren't resourced to assist everyone that needs them. Every day violence services aren't fully funded is another day women are left in danger.

Government representatives talk about how we all have a part to play in addressing violence. But making sure frontline services are resourced to support everyone who needs them is squarely the responsibility of governments.

Join us in calling on all government to make women’s safety a non-negotiable at the heart of their budgets.

If you or someone you know is affected by sexual or domestic or family abuse, you can access support from Full Stop Australia's National Violence and Abuse Trauma Counselling and Recovery Service by calling 1800 385 578 or at fullstop.org.au. If you are in danger, call 000. The Men's Referral Service is available on 1300 766 491 for men, or friends and family of men using violence.

More information

There are gaping holes in the safety net that should be in place for women affected by sexual, domestic and family violence. Funding is urgently needed across every part of the system.

Join the campaign to show the Albanese Government we want women’s safety to be at the core of their budgets; and we want these services fully funded.

To Federal, State and Territory Governments,

We call on you to ensure proper funding of specialist sexual, domestic and family violence services - to ensure everyone affected can access the support they need, and that perpetrators’ abusive behaviours are addressed.

"Women need (deserve) tax breaks much more than the billionaires that will get “relief” from these disgraceful concessions. The concessions are another “payday for the rich” right out of the conservative play book. It will bring SHAME to the Labor Party"

"The Australian government cares nothing for the welfare of the people, & in particular it has left women out in the cold. Domestic violence is rife in Australia, always has been & the government has done absolutely nothing to alleviate this problem. On top of this the Australian government has made it illegal for citizens to posses, own or use any item specifically meant for self defence, be it lethal or non lethal. This affectively disarms Australian citizens leaving women exposed to injury, rape & death & charged with a crime should they use a defensive item to save their lives or the lives of their families."

"This situation requires full Federal Gov. support as the cost of violence, both physical and mental on the victims far outweighs finacial cost."

"This is important, because half of us are women, and although I’m not, it is beyond disgraceful that these disparities even exist these days. Everything from wage differences, DV, predatory, and toxic male behaviour , sexual discrimination , women not feelings safe at night, and the list gles on, to our common shame. Fix it!!"
