Tell the govt: fully fund women’s safety

Domestic and family violence services, sexual violence services, women's legal services - all play a vital role in supporting women's safety and wellbeing.

But right now government priorities and funding decisions mean that services aren't resourced to assist everyone that needs them. Every day violence services aren't fully funded is another day women are left in danger.

Government representatives talk about how we all have a part to play in addressing violence. But making sure frontline services are resourced to support everyone who needs them is squarely the responsibility of governments.

Join us in calling on all government to make women’s safety a non-negotiable at the heart of their budgets.

If you or someone you know is affected by sexual or domestic or family abuse, you can access support from Full Stop Australia's National Violence and Abuse Trauma Counselling and Recovery Service by calling 1800 385 578 or at fullstop.org.au. If you are in danger, call 000. The Men's Referral Service is available on 1300 766 491 for men, or friends and family of men using violence.

More information

There are gaping holes in the safety net that should be in place for women affected by sexual, domestic and family violence. Funding is urgently needed across every part of the system.

Join the campaign to show the Albanese Government we want women’s safety to be at the core of their budgets; and we want these services fully funded.

To Federal, State and Territory Governments,

We call on you to ensure proper funding of specialist sexual, domestic and family violence services - to ensure everyone affected can access the support they need, and that perpetrators’ abusive behaviours are addressed.

"This issue is extremely important to me. I have friends and family who have been affected by men and their cruel acts. I have been affected by men and their cruel acts. Justice needs to be served for the woman we have lost, the women who are in trouble, and the women of our future."

"This is important because human safety and dignity irrespective of gender should be societies highest priority. It’s important because lost productivity and the cost of treating domestic violence victims is a cost we can avoid. It’s important because 90% of men have reported being uncomfortable with the way they have seen another man treat a woman and said nothing. Australia needs to say no and this tobe needs to be set at the highest levels"

"I barely survived my father’s violence. If my mother had not run away with my sister and I, we likely would not be alive today. Violence against women and girls MUST STOP."
