Tell the govt: fully fund women’s safety

Domestic and family violence services, sexual violence services, women's legal services - all play a vital role in supporting women's safety and wellbeing.

But right now government priorities and funding decisions mean that services aren't resourced to assist everyone that needs them. Every day violence services aren't fully funded is another day women are left in danger.

Government representatives talk about how we all have a part to play in addressing violence. But making sure frontline services are resourced to support everyone who needs them is squarely the responsibility of governments.

Join us in calling on all government to make women’s safety a non-negotiable at the heart of their budgets.

If you or someone you know is affected by sexual or domestic or family abuse, you can access support from Full Stop Australia's National Violence and Abuse Trauma Counselling and Recovery Service by calling 1800 385 578 or at fullstop.org.au. If you are in danger, call 000. The Men's Referral Service is available on 1300 766 491 for men, or friends and family of men using violence.

More information

There are gaping holes in the safety net that should be in place for women affected by sexual, domestic and family violence. Funding is urgently needed across every part of the system.

Join the campaign to show the Albanese Government we want women’s safety to be at the core of their budgets; and we want these services fully funded.

To Federal, State and Territory Governments,

We call on you to ensure proper funding of specialist sexual, domestic and family violence services - to ensure everyone affected can access the support they need, and that perpetrators’ abusive behaviours are addressed.

"I am a survivor..I was fortunate, but for these women that we were I can only imagine what their hell was like… as I lived it too. Police don’t take our cries seriously and we are left to fend for ourselves. When will this end?"

"For the reason, I had been through my past relationships with my ex boy friend during the year of pandemic 2020 which is not a good sign and I had experience the traumatic from emotional, alcoholic abuse and verbally abuse, then later was cheated and left me behind.
I ended up being treated not like a queen but was treated like a sex slave while treated her like a princess.
After 3 years until now, I ended being single in my whole life and couldn’t date to be date with anyone to move on the next relationship so.. I decided to help a lot of single mothers and didn’t meet them by incident in each year. So please be respectful for women’s right, dignity health and society."

"18 women killed in the first 15 weeks of 2023 is a deplorable figure.
Shame on our government for not prioritising these women and all women including trans women. Our government needs to do better."

"No one should live in fear of violence and, having been a victim of violence myself, I know it is the tool used to exert power by the strong over the weak. A society that tolerates this kind of naked brutal domination over others is a society that has no worth to me."
