Tell the govt: fully fund women’s safety

Domestic and family violence services, sexual violence services, women's legal services - all play a vital role in supporting women's safety and wellbeing.

But right now government priorities and funding decisions mean that services aren't resourced to assist everyone that needs them. Every day violence services aren't fully funded is another day women are left in danger.

Government representatives talk about how we all have a part to play in addressing violence. But making sure frontline services are resourced to support everyone who needs them is squarely the responsibility of governments.

Join us in calling on all government to make women’s safety a non-negotiable at the heart of their budgets.

If you or someone you know is affected by sexual or domestic or family abuse, you can access support from Full Stop Australia's National Violence and Abuse Trauma Counselling and Recovery Service by calling 1800 385 578 or at fullstop.org.au. If you are in danger, call 000. The Men's Referral Service is available on 1300 766 491 for men, or friends and family of men using violence.

More information

There are gaping holes in the safety net that should be in place for women affected by sexual, domestic and family violence. Funding is urgently needed across every part of the system.

Join the campaign to show the Albanese Government we want women’s safety to be at the core of their budgets; and we want these services fully funded.

To Federal, State and Territory Governments,

We call on you to ensure proper funding of specialist sexual, domestic and family violence services - to ensure everyone affected can access the support they need, and that perpetrators’ abusive behaviours are addressed.

"I worked with clients experiencing F & DV over 20 years ago nothing has changed, Rosie Battye told her story all over Australia, very little impact. Women and children suffer as a result of male violence. Children experience Post Traumatic Stress and this impacts their learning their memory ( short and medium term), they live with hypervigilance waiting for the next episode. This is not good enough. Services that actually support women need to be funded. Housing should be made a priority and men should be jailed. No more softly softly approach for perpetrators and programs like FAIR run by Relationships Australia do not work."

"The femicide epidemic in Australia needs urgent attention! Ask women what it is they need to recognise DFV early, to safely flee and to flourish.
It’s a complex, multi-layered issue. We need ZERO tolerance on AVO/DVO breaches. Magistrates need to apply harsher and comsistent penalties for AVO/DVO breaches."
