Since Howard introduced this in 1999 this policy has taken billions of dollars that could be contributed towards critical public services - like healthcare, education, or ensuring women can access the safety services they need.

Right now there's a critical opportunity to secure this reform. A Senate Inquiry has found this policy is contributing to the housing crisis; and media are reporting government discussions over alternate models and how to transition to them. That makes this a key moment to show the government they have public mandate to finally end this unfair rule.
