Sign the card: Thanks for committing half a billion to tackle family violence

Last month the Victorian Government have announced an incredible $572 million of funding to address family violence in the state.

This investment is an historic act of leadership from Premier Daniel Andrews and his Government, and an important big step towards implementing the full recommendations of the recent Royal Commission.

It's all too rare that we see this kind of leadership, and on such an important issue. That's why it's critical we show this investment is supported by voters -- especially in an election year.

"When I heard Dan Andrews during the election campaign say if elected he’d authorise a Royal Commission into Domestic Violence, I cried. A lot, and have repeated this response with every forward positive . announcement. I’m overwhelmed. As a woman who was in an abusive marriage for 20 years, with three children. While it’s over 30 years since I left that marriage, the damage done to every aspect of a survivor’s life is ongoing. I asked for help in the 1960’s and was refused, in a very destructive manner, it took me another 17 years to leave

I thank and congratulate the Victorian Government, and Premier Andrews in particular for his caring concern, compassion and commitment to stamp out this form of human rights abuses which is so damaging to women and children, sadly often resulting in murder.
