Can you volunteer to make abortion decriminalisation an election issue?

Abortion has just become an election issue in Queensland.

After the LNP announced that all members would vote down the existing decriminalisation package, the proposed Bills were withdrawn, and abortion has now been referred to the Queensland Law Reform Commission. And the ALP have committed to introduce another Bill to implement the recommendations.

It means that there will be a vote on abortion decriminalisation next year. But it will be cast by a new parliament. That means the only way to win decriminalisation is with a majority of pro-choice MPs in the next Queensland parliament.

Campaigning on this issue in the lead up to next year’s Queensland election will be critical and we'll need volunteers on the ground to help with things like candidate meetings and letter boxing in key electorates.
