Join the fight for accessible abortion care

We should all be able to access the reproductive healthcare we need - no matter where we live, or who we are.

Together, we have helped remove abortion from the criminal code -- but legal barriers were only ever part of the problem. Too many people around the country still face major affordability and service access barriers that mean they can't get abortion care when and where they need it.

Too many patients can't rely on their public hospital for care; can't easily find a healthcare service they can turn to in their area; or have to find $500 on short-notice in order to cover the out-of-pocket costs for this urgent and critical healthcare.

There are clear pathways for change - including ensuring abortion care is available in public hospitals and supporting and training health practitioners.

The overturning of Roe v. Wade in the US provides a stark reminder that there is no room for complacency in the fight for reproductive justice. Policies related to abortion are treated as matters of "conscience" for members of major parties in all Australian parliaments, so we can't assume they'll be supported on party lines. Fair Agenda's advocacy has helped to secure historic legal reform in recent years. Now we must continue to mobilise to show a public mandate for abortion to be not only legal but accessible. Can you join the call for action?

To all Australian parliaments,

We all deserve agency over our body, healthcare and future.

We call on you to protect safe, legal and compassionate access to abortion care - and ensure that anyone who needs abortion care can access it when and where they need it, regardless of income.

Signed,

Fair Agenda will email petition signers from time to time with important updates

"Women already carry the heavy burden of procreation, from early puberty till almost 60 when the menopause suddenly dumps a new range of health horrors on us, none of which men have ever had to deal with & know little about. We should never have to endure pregnancy and the raising of children, without being fully ready. Uteruses can not be political or religious footballs for old white men to manage, and body autonomy is a basic, inalienable human right that conservative politics & religion must up hold."

"Other people’s religion or beliefs should not have any say over what I or other women or girls do with their body. If you don’t believe in abortion, then you can choose not to have one. Making it illegal will never stop the need for safe abortion, it will just endanger women and ruin lives."
