Join the fight for accessible abortion care

We should all be able to access the reproductive healthcare we need - no matter where we live, or who we are.

Together, we have helped remove abortion from the criminal code -- but legal barriers were only ever part of the problem. Too many people around the country still face major affordability and service access barriers that mean they can't get abortion care when and where they need it.

Too many patients can't rely on their public hospital for care; can't easily find a healthcare service they can turn to in their area; or have to find $500 on short-notice in order to cover the out-of-pocket costs for this urgent and critical healthcare.

There are clear pathways for change - including ensuring abortion care is available in public hospitals and supporting and training health practitioners.

The overturning of Roe v. Wade in the US provides a stark reminder that there is no room for complacency in the fight for reproductive justice. Policies related to abortion are treated as matters of "conscience" for members of major parties in all Australian parliaments, so we can't assume they'll be supported on party lines. Fair Agenda's advocacy has helped to secure historic legal reform in recent years. Now we must continue to mobilise to show a public mandate for abortion to be not only legal but accessible. Can you join the call for action?

To all Australian parliaments,

We all deserve agency over our body, healthcare and future.

We call on you to protect safe, legal and compassionate access to abortion care - and ensure that anyone who needs abortion care can access it when and where they need it, regardless of income.

Signed,

Fair Agenda will email petition signers from time to time with important updates

"I personally believe it’s the hardest decision a woman has to make. It’s never done without a lot of thought put in.
There are many reasons to abort.
Becoming pregnant due to being raped.
Financially unable to provide a stable home
Being dependent on drugs, knowing that they don’t have the capacity to take care of child.
Many many more reasons.
Bottom line is it’s up to the woman what she does."

"Women shouldn’t have to be fighting for their lives to justify terminating a pregnancy. We shouldn’t be forced to go through something so traumatic and heartbreaking just because some people find the thought of abortion “icky”. If someone dies in a car accident and hasn’t specifically expressed that they want their organs to be donated, it doesn’t matter how many lives could be saved, those organs cannot be donated. So why does a corpse and and unborn baby have more bodily autonomy than a woman?"

"Safe healthcare is a universal human right and women should have autonomy over their bodies. Australia should move forward and be progressive! We are not the US!!"

"I am a woman. I have daughters. The patriarchs continue to seek power and control beyond wisdom. There are over 50,000 unwanted and damaged children in the foster system in Australia. Devastating statistics. Women MUST be guided to and be made to feel it’s ok to choose to terminate."

"Because we already have enough trauma in our world….the trauma of forced pregnancy and birth…then the child is born in trauma especially if the Mother was raped or abused and not wanted….A crime against the woman and the child"
