Libra's absorption problem

Just weeks after Google launched a $50 million program to help address barriers to girls involvement in the science, technology engineering and mathematics sectors; and despite evidence that stereotypes and cultural biases still impede women's success in the 'STEM' areas… Libra have rolled out this new advertising campaign.

Libra's website says they create adverts “designed to give you a smile”.

"I saw this advert on the back of a door in the ladies lavatory. I’m usually a very calm person but this really wound me up. It delivers an underlying message that women are weak and ‘a bit thick’. You would never see anything like this addressed to men. So disappointed especially considering Libra is a women’s brand."

"This issue is important to me because having periods isn’t a choice, but graduating an Arts degree or becoming a musicianship student with a distinction was a choice- a choice to not only absorb information and knowledge like a sponge, but become a successful and intelligent young woman. I want to see other young successful women and I believe comparing knowledge and information to passive menstrual flow is doomed to failure. !"

"C’mon Libra! I have bought your products for years and you don’t need to use terms like this to ‘give me a smile’. Get over the nonsense stereotypes and come up with something original AND actually funny! We have to stop women saying this stuff about themselves, and it assists us all if the companies who supply the products we need don’t add to the mix. Diss the ad and start again."

"i actually gasped in shock when i saw the ad. i had been really enjoying the light hearted campaign. and then i felt slapped in the face. you didn’t say more than we absorbed. you said you you women.i was outside the joke. you were laughing at me. and i did do well in maths."
