I am devastated by the continued reports of women being killed in our communities.
 
I’m writing because I know that to improve women’s safety from domestic, family and sexual violence, we must improve access to specialist services that support their safety and recovery.
 
I am worried that both federal and state governments aren't currently providing adequate resourcing of key services – including in areas like: interventions with men using violence, early intervention, First Nations community-controlled initiatives, sexual violence trauma counselling, specialist case management services, and legal assistance services.
 
I want all governments to ensure there are no gaps in the service safety net that victim-survivors rely on for their safety and recovery.

As Treasurers finalise the next budgets, I’m writing to express my strong support and plea for a major and sustained increase in resourcing women's safety – specifically in accessible, culturally appropriate and trauma-informed specialist sexual, domestic and family violence services.

I want to ensure no victim-survivor who needs support is left without it - whether reporting, seeking safety, navigating the legal system or seeking support for trauma recovery. I also want to see increased investment in accredited perpetrator interventions – to change the attitudes and behaviours that contribute to violence.
 
I see budgets as a reflection of government priorities – I hope your next budget will make women’s safety a priority.

How we use the data you enter on this form
