PPL thanks

Say thanks to the parties protecting new parents' time at home

This election Fair Agenda secured pledges from the Nick Xenophon Team, Jacqui Lambie Network, Greens and ALP to vote against any cuts to paid parental leave.

Together, these parties hold the majority of seats in the new Senate, which means their votes will stop the Government from cutting the parental leave of tens of thousands of new parents.

It's a great commitment from these four parties, which will make a huge difference to tens of thousands of working parents, and their newborns.

With so much at stake, it's vital we not only thank these Senators for pledging to protect new parents' time at home -- but also show them we're still ready to mobilise and hold them accountable for their promise.

Can you help by sharing a thank you message for the Senators pledged, sharing why protecting parental leave matters to you?

Being able to afford to spend time at home caring for your new baby is precious.

Thank you for your pledge to vote against any cuts to paid parental leave.

Signed,

Fair Agenda will email petition signers from time to time with important updates

"Socialist ideals are the backbone of a healthy society. The work done at home needs to be recognised as a benefit to society and as such the value of that work needs to be credited."

"Time at home with new babies is so important to their development. The demands of our economy mean parents need to work more than ever so what ever leave they have is too important to be cut back."

"Parental care, particularly when the child is very young, is most valuable for ‘bonding’ with the infant. This produces long term affection, responsibility and trust between parent and child."
